His works, such as "The Snow Queen," "Ugly Duckling" and "The Little Mermaid," continue to inspire and fascinate readers of all ages. In this biography, we look at the key moments of Hans Christian Andersen's life, his inspiration and contributions to world literature.

Hans Christian was born on April 2, 1805 in the city of Odense, on the island of Funen, in Denmark. His childhood was difficult and lacking in luxury. He grew up in a poor family and became an orphan after the death of his father. These difficulties of childhood had a profound effect on his later work, and many of his tales reflect the theme of poverty and internal struggles.

Hans's abilities for literature were manifested early, and he was sent to Copenhagen in the hope of getting a good education and starting a literary career. He enrolled at Slotsholman School, where his talent was noticed. With the help of a scholarship, he attended school and studied for many years.

Hans's real passion, however, was about travel. In 1833 he embarked on a journey through Europe, visiting Germany, France, Italy and other countries. His travel impressions inspired many works, including fairy tales and stories based on the culture and nature of different countries.

Andersen's first book to gain popularity was "Tales Told to Children." It was published in 1835 and included such famous tales as "Princess on a Pea" and "Grasshopper Pot." This book was Hans' first step towards literary success.
