Mel Gibson - Biography

His first major film roles came with "Gallipoli" (1981) and "The Country Where Honey Flows" (1984). However, Gibson's real career breakthrough came with the film "Lethal Weapon" (1987), where he played the role of detective Martin Riggs. The film became a box office hit and launched a series of films.
In 1995, Mel Gibson made his directorial debut with "Braveheart," which he also starred in. The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Direction, establishing Gibson as a talented and influential director.
He also directed other successful films such as "Without a Face" (1997), "Jezebel" (1999), and "Christ: Salvation" (2004). As an actor, he went on to star in films such as "Passenger 57" (1992), "The Haunting of Hell" (1995) and "Machete Kills" (2010).
