Alexandra Shulman - Biography

Alexander Shulman was born on September 27, 1948 in Moscow, Russia. His family was Jewish, and even as a child he developed an interest in fashion and style. In the 1970s, in search of new opportunities, he emigrated from the Soviet Union to the UK.

Alexander Shulman studied at the law faculty of Moscow State University, but his passion for the fashion world and publishing led him to another career. After emigrating to London, he began working in fashion and style, gaining experience and knowledge in various aspects of the industry.

In the 1980s, Alexander Shulman founded his own publishing house, which then became known as Conde Nast. Under his leadership, the publishing house became one of the world's leading publishers of fashion and stylish magazines, including such famous publications as Vogue, GQ, and Vanity Fair.

His successful leadership of Conde Nast earned him wide recognition and made him an influential figure in the world of media and fashion. He is also considered one of the key figures in promoting British fashion and culture on the world stage.

Alexander Shulman made a huge contribution to the world of fashion and style. His editorial decisions and choices of models and photographers helped define modern standards of beauty and style. In his magazines, he always supported diversity and inclusion, trying to show that fashion is accessible and important for people of all ages, ethnic groups and physical parameters.

Alexander Shulman ended his Conde Nast career in 2017, but his impact on the fashion and media world continues to be significant. He remains an important figure in the industry and continues to support and inspire young designers and journalists.
