Alexander was born on 24 July 1802 in Villers-Cotterres, a small town in France. He was the son of Thomas-Alexandre Dumas, a famous general and hero of the Napoleonic Wars. Due to his father's military background, the young Alexander spent a lot of time in various places in France where his father served. This childhood, full of travel and adventure, had a profound impact on the future writer.
In 1822, Alexander moved to Paris, where he began his literary career as a playwright. His first plays were successful, and he became famous in theatrical circles.
In 1844, Alexander Dumas published his famous novel "The Three Musketeers" ("Les Trois Mousquetaires"). This work tells the story of the young d'Artagnan, who joins the royal guard and becomes a friend of three musketeers - Athos, Porthos and Aramis. The novel is full of adventure, intrigue and historical events, and it became a huge success immediately after publication.
"The Three Musketeers" was continued by two subsequent novels - "Twenty Years Later" and "Viscount de Brajelon, or Ten Years Later." These works were also very popular and established as masters of adventure literature.
