Alexis de was born on July 29, 1805 in France into an aristocratic family. His family status and education enabled him to obtain a good education and become familiar with philosophy, politics and social sciences. He began his career as a lawyer and was selected for the French legislative corps in 1831.
However, a real life turning point occurred when he set out on a trip to the United States in 1831. This journey became the basis for his most famous work, Democracy in America. During this trip, he studied the American political system, society and lifestyle, and conducted an analysis of how democratic institutions and values affect society.
In his book "Democracy in America," published in two volumes in 1835 and 1840, Tocqueville explored American democracy and discussed its pros and cons. He drew attention to the role of public gatherings, freedom of speech and the press, as well as the problems and challenges associated with democratic governance. His analysis had a huge impact on political philosophy and was the starting point for many discussions about democracy and freedom.
Upon his return to France, he continued his political career and held various posts in the government. His contribution to politics remained important, but his true influence was due to his philosophical and sociological writings.
