Anne Frank - Biography
Anne Frank Biography: The Girl Who Left a Mark on World HistoryAnna (June 12, 1929 - March 1945) was a name that became a symbol of suffering and hope during the Holocaust. Her diary, written during stealth in Amsterdam, became one of the most important literary evidence of this tragic era. In this biography, we look at the life and diary of Anne Frank, as well as its impact on world history and the struggle for human rights.
Anna was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany to a Jewish family. Her father, Otto Frank, was a businessman and her mother, Edith, was a caring housewife. Anna had an older sister, Margot, with whom she was close.
In 1933, after the Nazis came to power in Germany, the family moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands to get away from the anti-Semitic persecutor. In Amsterdam, Anna began studying at a local school and quickly adapted to her new life.
In 1940, Germany took over the Netherlands and life became increasingly dangerous for Jews. In July 1942, the Frank family decided to hide from the Nazis, and they hid in a secret room in the backyard of the building where Otto Frank worked.
In this secret room known as "Stealth," Anna began keeping her diary. She was just 13 when she began recording her thoughts and feelings. Her diary was evidence not only of their own suffering but of the horrors experienced by Jews during the Holocaust.
