Anne Radcliffe began her literary career as a poet. Her first poems were published in 1787, and she continued to write poetry for several years. However, she became a real success thanks to her novels, especially Gothic.
Anne became famous for her Gothic novels, which became popular at the end of the 18th century. Her novel, The Mysteries of Udolpho, published in 1794, is considered one of her greatest works. In this book, she created an atmosphere of incomprehensible mystery that became a feature of the Gothic genre.
