Bronislaw Malinowski - Biography

Kasper Malinowski was born on 7 June 1884 in Kraków, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, now Poland. His family was educated and advanced for his time, and this contributed to his fascination with science and research.

Malinowski graduated in Vienna, London and Krakow. His academic career began at the University of Kraków, where he studied ethnography and anthropology. His scientific work quickly attracted the attention of researchers in Europe.

One key point in his career is his research among Trood tribes living on the island of Melanesia. His work in the region brought important knowledge of the social and cultural practices of the locals and made him famous in the world of anthropology. His book "The Argonauts of the Western Pacific" became a classic of ethnography and studied the life of the Troods and their society.

Malinowski made a significant contribution to the development of anthropology, focusing on the anthropological method, which implies the participation of an observer in the study group. His approach became known as "participating observation" and had a huge impact on the methodology of anthropological research.

In 1910 Malinowski moved to London, where he worked at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Here he continued his research and training of students, among whom were future distinguished anthropologists.

Malinovsky was known for his kind-hearted and educated character. His scientific heritage remains significant and influential, and his "participating observation" methodology is widely used in modern anthropology. He passed away on October 16, 1942, but his work and contributions to understanding human societies and cultures continue to inspire researchers around the world.
