Goldoni (Carlo Goldoni) was born on February 25, 1707 in Venice, Italy, in the family of a physician. His parents hoped that he would also become a doctor, but fate prepared a different path for him. Goldoni became one of the most influential playwrights of his time and is considered the creator of modern comedy.
