Charles Baudelaire - Biography

Baudelaire: The Life and Work of the French Poet and Planner of the Way to Modernism

Charles is a name associated with unbending character, rebellion and genius. A French poet, author of "Flowers of Evil" and one of the leading figures of symbolism, he became an important figure in the history of literature and art. In this biography, we look at his life, creativity, philosophical beliefs and influence on the development of literary modernism.

Charles Pierre was born on April 9, 1821 in Paris, France. His family was educated and cultural, and he was raised in an atmosphere of respect for art and literature. From an early age, he showed extraordinary literary talent and writing.

Baudelaire was educated in Paris and subsequently studied at the Faculty of Law. However, his interests were much wider, and he soon left the university to devote himself to literature and the arts.

Charles Baudelaire began his literary career as a critic and translator. He was an enthusiastic proponent of Romanticism and wrote about the works of authors such as Edgar Allan Poe and Charles Baudelaire. He subsequently translated many works, including those of William Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe, into French.

However, his poetry became a real masterpiece and contribution to world literature. His famous collection of poems, "Flowers of Evil" (1857), caused a scandal with its frankness and destructive criticism of modern society. In this collection, he explored themes of sensuality, death, evil and destruction, and it became a key work of symbolism and modernism.
