Christine De was born on 11 January 1364 in Venice, Italy, but she spent most of her life in France. Her father, Toma De Pisan, was an astronomer and scientist, and he passed on to his daughter a love of knowledge and literature.

From an early age, Christine showed outstanding ability in literature and education. She received an excellent education and was familiar with Latin, Italian and French. Her education was unusual for a woman of the time, and it became the basis for her future labors.

Christine De was one of the first women in history to bravely enter the literary scene of medieval Europe. Her literary works covered a wide range of genres, including poetry, essays, ballads and short stories.
