Biography of Edward Elmer Smith - The Life and Work of the Legendary American Fiction WriterEdward Elmer Smith, also known as E. E. Smith, was born on May 2, 1890 in Shenandoah, Iowa, USA. His family was well-off and contributed to the development of his literary and scientific interests. grew up with unique abilities and a passion for fantastic literature.
Smith received a bachelor's degree in chemistry and physics, and later a Ph.D. in chemistry. His scientific research led to the development of new methods for the analysis and synthesis of chemical compounds, and he worked academically until the outbreak of World War I.
During his scientific career, he began to write science fiction stories for the magazine Amazing Stories. His stories of adventures in space and other worlds became popular with readers. In 1934, he published his first novel, The Skylark of Space, together with author Doc Smith.
E. E. Smith gained the greatest fame and recognition thanks to his series of novels about "Star Kings" ("Lensman series"). This epic saga about the struggle of good and evil on a galactic scale has become a cult in the world of fiction. Smith created a unique "Lens" system that gives its owners incredible abilities.
