Edith was born in 1927 in Hungary. Her childhood was happy and carefree, but in 1944, at just 16, her life and that of her family changed dramatically. Hungary was occupied by the Nazis, and the young Edith was sent to Auschwitz concentration camp with her family.

Edith and her sister were separated from their parents and forced to face the horrors of Auschwitz. Living conditions in the concentration camp were extremely harsh, and every day was a test for survival. Despite all the difficulties, Edith amazingly retained hope and the will to live.

She survived in Auschwitz until the liberation of the camp in 1945. Her optimism and fortitude in the most difficult conditions became the determining factors that helped her survive.
