Edward Snowden - Biography
Joseph Snowden was born on June 21, 1983 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA. Over time, he became known as a former employee of the Central Intelligence Service (CIA) and the US National Security Counterintelligence Service (NSA), who uncovered the US government's massive mass surveillance programs.Snowden grew up in a family where military service and law and order were mundane. His grandfather and father served in the army, and his mother worked in court. He began to show interest in information security and technology from an early age. He graduated from high school in Maryland in 2006.
Snowden has also been active in the online community and computer security forums. In 2004, he joined the army, where he received the specialty "information security specialist." After that, he worked for the Central Intelligence Service (CIA) and US National Security (NSA).
In 2013, Edward revealed large-scale surveillance programs conducted by the American government. He gave secret documents to journalists Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras and Barton Gellman. claimed that the purpose of his actions was to disclose violations of the rights of US citizens and citizens of other countries in the field of privacy and freedom of information.
One of the most significant documents given by Snowden was information about the PRISM program, which allowed the NSA to access data from big internet companies such as Google, Facebook and Microsoft. This coloring caused a global scandal and increased the discussion of citizens' rights to privacy and data protection.
After the disclosure, Edward fled the US to avoid arrest and crossing the trial. He went to Hong Kong, where he continued to cooperate with journalists and disclose additional information about the surveillance program. After Hong Kong refused to grant asylum, it moved to Russia.
