Frida Kahlo - Biography

Kahlo is a name associated with vivid colors, expressive portraits and intimate self-reflection. This Mexican artist has become one of the most famous and influential figures in world art of the 20th century. In this article, we look at Frida Kahlo's biography, starting with her childhood and ending with the influence on modern art and the feminist movement.

Frida was born on July 6, 1907 in Mexico City, Mexico. Her childhood was marked by events that shaped her personality and art. In 1925, Frida suffered a serious car accident, as a result of which she received serious injuries - fractures of her leg, pelvis and spine, as well as damage to internal organs. Her long recovery from this injury inspired her to begin painting.

Frida became known for her expressive portraits, in which she often depicted her physical and emotional distress. Her work was saturated with symbols and symbolism, reflecting her own struggles and themes related to national and Mexican culture.

One of her most famous works is Mona Lisa with a Mustache, in which she rethought the famous portrait of Leonardo da Vinci, giving it a Mexican character and adding symbols related to her own life.

In 1929, Frida Kahlo married the famous artist Diego Rivera, who was 20 years older than her. Their marriage was turbulent and passionate, but was also accompanied by numerous storms and infidelities. Both artists influenced each other in art, and their marriage became an important aspect of their careers.

Frida made no secret of her bisexuality and had affairs with both men and women. Her art also reflected her complex relationships and emotional experiences.
