Friedrich Engels - Biography

Engels is a name that is inseparable from Marxism and revolutionary movements in the 19th and 20th centuries. This eminent thinker, philosopher and revolutionary played a key role in shaping Marxist theory and promoting ideas of social justice. In this text, we will tell you about the life and contribution of Engels to history and social sciences.

Friedrich was born in 1820 in Bremen, Germany. His family was bourgeois, and he received a good education, including studies at the gymnasium and university. He was trained in classical ideas of philosophy, literature and history, but his interests soon expanded into politics and social sciences.

However, the real turning point in Engels's life was his meeting with Karl Marx in 1844 in Paris. This was the beginning of a long and fruitful friendship and collaboration. and Marx collaborated on the development of Marxist theory, which became the foundation for analyzing social and economic processes and for criticizing capitalism.

One of Engels' important contributions to Marxism was his work "The Communist Manifesto," written jointly with Marx and published in 1848. This document became a programmatic statement of the Marxist movement and a call to the working class for liberation from exploitation and the establishment of communism.

However, Engels also made substantial contributions to the development of Marxist theory, working on research topics such as materialism, dialectics, and class struggle. His writings, such as "Anti-During" and "Family, Private Property and the State," were important for the development of Marxist philosophy and theory.

In addition to his intellectual activity, he was also an active participant in revolutionary movements. He supported revolutions in Europe, especially in Germany and France, and financially assisted Marxist and revolutionary organizations. He also participated in the 1848 revolution in Germany.
