Friedrich Schiller - Biography

Biography a Schiller: The Life and Work of the Great German Poet and Playwright

Friedrich Schiller is a name associated with great German literary works, dramas and poems. His work had a profound influence on German literature and culture in general. In this biography, we look at the key moments of his life, his contributions to German and world literature, and his influence on philosophy and art.

Friedrich was born on 10 November 1759 in Marbach, Württemberg, Germany. He was the seventh child of the family and showed an early interest in literature and art. In 1773 he entered the Karlshorn Military Academy, but his passion for literature was stronger and he fled the academy to follow his dream of a writing career.

Schiller began his literary career as a poet and playwright. He was known for his poems and dramas, which dealt with important philosophical and ethical topics. His first drama, "The Robbers" (Die Räuber), was published in 1781 and immediately attracted public attention. In this play, he protested against social inequalities and tyranny.

Schiller was also known for his philosophical works and poems in which he explored issues of freedom, morality, and human destiny. He was a close friend and writer of Johann Wolfgang Goethe, and their joint efforts had a significant impact on German romance and philosophy.

Among the most famous works are the plays "Intrigues and Love" (Kabale und Liebe), "Wallenstein" (Wallenstein), "Maria Stuart" (Maria Stuart), "William Tell" (Wilhelm Tell) and the poem "Ode an die Freude" (Ode an die Freude), which later became the basis for part of the Ninth Symphony of Ludwig van Hoven.
