Gabriel García Márquez - Biography

Marquez was born on March 6, 1927 in Aracataca, a small town in Colombia. He grew up in a family where books and literature were valued. In his early years he developed an interest in art and writing.

After leaving school, Garcia entered the University of National Ukraine in Bogota, where he studied journalism. His journalism career began in the early 1950s, when he began writing for various Colombian newspapers and magazines.

Gabriel Garcia began his literary career as a writer of realistic short stories and novels. He wrote about life and mundane events in Colombia, often giving his works magical realism - a style that became a feature of it.

However, Garcia achieved real fame with the release of his novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude" ("Cien años de soledad") in 1967. This novel became one of the most famous and influential works in world literature. It follows the fate of the Buendia family for generations and combines elements of magical realism, history and social satire.

Magical realism became an important characteristic of Garcia's work. This style allowed him to combine real events and elements of fiction in such a way that the lines between myth and reality were erased. This created a unique and unique world of his works.

In 1982, Gabriel Garcia was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for "his novels and short stories full of fantastic innovation and symbolic depth that reflect the life and conflicts of the continent." This award confirmed his status as one of the greatest writers of the 20th century.
