Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Greta Ernman was the third child in the family. Since childhood, she has shown an interest in nature and the environment. She talked about watching movies and reading books about climate change and environmental issues, and it had a big impact on her outlook.

At the age of 8, Greta learned about the concept of the ecological footprint and began to realize how serious climate change was. This problem became important to her and made her want to act.
