Guillermo del was born on October 9, 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico. His early years were filled with attention to art, literature and film. The young Guillermo read many books of fiction and horror, which became the source of his inspiration.

Del began his career as a short film director, but his first feature film was "Kronos" (1993). Combining elements of fiction and horror, the film has received critical and fan acclaim.

He then directed "The Devil's Backbone" (2001), entering the world film arena. The film, which follows an orphanage during the Spanish Civil War, was noted for its emotional depth and art of telling stories.

However, the real gem of his filmography is Pan's Labyrinth (2006), a painting that combines realism with magic and fantasy. The film earned him worldwide recognition and numerous awards, including an Oscar for Best Foreign Picture and Best Art Design.
