Gustav Flaubert - Biography

Flaubert (1821-1880) was a French writer, one of the greatest novelists of the 19th century, and a master of literary realism. His works, such as "Mistress Bovari" and "Sentimental Education," remain important masterpieces of world literature. In this biography, we look at the life and work of a Flaubert, his influence on literature and philosophy, and why his work continues to attract the attention of readers around the world.

Gustav Louis was born on December 12, 1821 in Rouen, France, the son of a surgeon. His early years were full of cultural experiences thanks to his educated parents and living in a provincial city. Already in childhood, he showed an interest in literature and often wrote short stories and poems.

Flaubert received a classical education at the College of Rouen and then entered the Faculty of Law at the University of Paris. However, his interest in literature has always been stronger, and he left the university to devote himself to a literary career.

The first works did not bring him much fame. His debut novel "Madame Bovary" was published in 1857 and caused a scandal in society with its frank criticism of the mores and morals of the bourgeoisie. However, the novel became a great success and is considered one of the greatest works of world literature. He explored themes of passion, ambition and moral degradation among the society of his time.

Flaubert's next great novel, "Sentimental Education" (1869), also caused excitement and was recognized as a great work of art. This novel about Emma Bovary's life and her pursuit of ideals of beauty and passion remains relevant today.

Gustav was not only a great writer, but also a philosopher. His works often explored human nature, morality, distorted reality, and the psychological aspects of consciousness. He was a critic of his own time and bourgeois morality, and his works raised important questions about morality and values.
