Gustave Flaubert - Biography

Flaubert is one of France's most prominent and influential writers of the 19th century. His works, such as "Madame Bovary" and "Sentimental Education," are considered classics of world literature and have had a profound impact on the development of fiction. In this biography, we look at the life, creativity and legacy of this great writer.

Gustave was born on 12 December 1821 in Rouen, a small town in Northern France. He was the eldest of five children in the family of a wealthy surgeon. Gustave's early years were marked by the study of classical literature and art, which greatly influenced his future work.

After graduation, he entered the College of Rouen, where he began to show interest in literature and art. He also studied in Paris at the College of Louis-Le Grande, where he became acquainted with various literary movements and became part of the intellectual elite of the city.

Gustave was known for his hidden and introverted character. His personal life was complicated and intractable. He did not marry or have a permanent romantic relationship, although his correspondence indicates that he fell in love with various women and felt their influence on his life and work.

Gustave Flaubert was a master of word and style. His works were distinguished by a wealth of vocabulary, a deep analysis of the psychology of characters and a critical view of the society of his time. He is considered one of the founders of literary realism and often used his novels to criticize hypocrisy and the moral degradation of bourgeois society.

One of the most famous works is Madame Bovary, a novel about the life and fate of the main character, who strives for a better life, but plunges into a world of immorality and destruction. The book caused a huge scandal at release, but became a classic of literature and was recognized as one of the greatest works of French literature.
