Herbert George (Herbert George Wells) was born on September 21, 1866 in Bromley, Kent, England. His family was modest and not wealthy, and Herbert received a limited education. However, his curiosity and intelligence led him to self-education and later to a literary career.

From an early age, Herbert developed an interest in reading and scientific knowledge. His first works were non-fiction articles and book reviews. In 1895, he published his first novel, "The Time Machine," which immediately became a bestseller and established him as a writer.
