Honoré de was born on 20 May 1799 in Tours, a small town in France. He grew up in a family where his parents hoped he would continue their family business and become a lawyer. However, Honore was always passionate about literature and dreamed of a career as a writer.

Honoré de began his literary career by writing articles and criticizing. His first publications were not very successful, but he was persistent and believed in his literary talent. His first novel, La Peau de chagrin, published in 1831, brought him wide recognition and was the beginning of his path to literary fame.
