Hunter S. was born on July 18, 1937, in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. After serving in the Army, he attended the College of Artifacts and Technology in Pennsylvania, where he began his first steps in journalism.

At first he worked in small newspapers and magazines, but his ambitions were much greater. He moved to South America and worked there as a correspondent, covering various events and conflicts. This experience of outside journalism shaped his approach to investigation and writing style.

However, Hunter S. Thompson became real fame after the publication of his cult book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in 1972. This work became the manifesto of gonzo journalism and the cultural movement. In the book, Thompson and his friend and illustrator Ralph Steadman described uncontrolled drug use, strange adventures, and the degradation of morality in American society.

"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" became a symbol of generation, and the book was widely recognized as a masterpiece of subcultural literature. She left an indelible mark on world literature and is considered one of Thompson's most important works.
