Ivan Turgenev - Biography

Sergeyevich Turgenev is one of the great Russian writers of the 19th century, whose works are known for their deep psychological study of characters and sharp analysis of social phenomena. In this biography, we will consider the life path of Turgenev, his contribution to Russian and world literature, as well as the influence of his works on modern society.

Ivan was born on October 28, 1818 in the Oryol province, Russian Empire. He was a member of a noble family and spent his early years on the family estate of Spasskoye. Childhood and youth were spent in rural areas, and this environment had a great influence on his future work.

After graduating from the Oryol gymnasium, Ivan entered the Faculty of Law of Moscow University. His real passion, however, was literature, and he began writing poetry and prose as early as his university years.

The first publication is the poem "Parasha" (1830), which was published in the literary magazine Sovremennik. This publishing experience was the starting point for his literary career. In the early 1840s, he began working on stories and short stories that quickly became popular in literary circles.

The most famous work was the novel "Fathers and Children" (1862), which became one of the important works of Russian literature of the 19th century. The novel describes the conflict of generations and the clash of the worldviews of youth and the older generation. This work sparked much discussion and became an important part of the public dialogue of its time.

Turgenev was known for his sharp analysis of social phenomena and the psychology of the characters. His works often addressed important topics such as freedom, education, spiritual development, and morality. He was also known for his short stories, including "The Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin" (1831), which influenced the development of short prose.
