Jack London - Biography
Jack London, real name John Griffith Cheney, was born on January 12, 1876 in San Francisco, California. He grew up in a working-class family and from an early age faced the cruelty of life, which played a key role in shaping his views and the themes of his future works. In his youth, London traveled to the United States, worked in factories and sailed on ships, which was reflected in his writing style, imbued with a sense of realism and adventure. One important period in his life was his involvement in the Klondike gold rush of 1897, the experience of which formed the basis of many of his works, including the famous novel "The Call of the Ancestors."
Jack London was not only a writer, but also an active socialist, which was reflected in works such as Iron Heel, a dystopia about the future of socialism and capitalism. His works were often based on ideas about the struggle for survival and natural selection, as well as about the human ability to overcome trials in extreme conditions.
