Jean Paul Sartre - Biography

Jean-Paul Sartre is a name that will forever remain in history as one of the most influential philosophers and writers of the 20th century. His works on the philosophy of existence and free will, as well as his literary works, left an indelible mark on world culture and philosophy. Let's immerse ourselves in the life and thoughts of this outstanding man.

Jean-Paul was born on June 21, 1905 in Paris, France. His parents were educated people, and he grew up in an intellectual environment. He lost his father in early childhood and was raised by his mother, who had a huge influence on his intellectual development.

Sartre showed outstanding ability in philosophy and literature from an early age. He studied at prestigious educational institutions, including the Lyceum of Louis-Le Grande, where he met the future philosopher and writer Simon de Beauvoir.

Jean-Paul became famous for his work in the field of philosophy of existence and phenomenology. His dissertation "The Meaning of Things" (L'Imagination) was published in 1936 and brought him his first recognition in the academic world.

However, the real breakthrough in his philosophical career was the publication of the book "Genesis and Nothing" (L'Être et le Néant) in 1943. In this work, Sartre developed his ideas about existence, freedom and responsibility. He formulated the concept of "shift" (mauvaise foi), pointing to the tendency of people to evade their freedom and responsibility, and also created the term "other" (l'autre) to refer to a person as an object and subject at the same time.

In addition to his philosophical activities, Jean-Paul was known as a talented writer. His novel "Nausea" (La Nausée), published in 1938, became one of the key works of existentialism and described the sense of absurdity and meaninglessness of being.
