John Galbraith - Biography
Galbraith grew up in a small town in Illinois with a family of farmers. His early years were filled with farm labor, but his desire for knowledge and education was evident from the start. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Harvard University and then his doctorate from the University of Oxford.Early in his career, John worked as a research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and taught at Princeton University. He also served in the Franklin Roosevelt administration during the Great Depression. This was a period when his research and analysis of economic policy attracted widespread attention.
However, John won real fame for his theories and research in the field of economics. He was one of the founders of institutional economics and developed the concept of "consumption theory." His work on the impact of consumer behavior on the economy and society was revolutionary and greatly influenced the development of economic science.
One of John Galbraith's best-known works is The Affluent Society, published in 1958. In this book, he analyzes consumer society and expresses concern about inequality in society and the lack of social responsibility of corporations. This book became a bestseller and drew public attention to the problems of economic inequality.
John Galbraith was also known for his theories about government spending and its impact on the economy. He believed that the state should play an active role in regulating the economy and reducing social inequalities.
John continued to be active in writing and researching economic issues until his death. He died on April 29, 2006, leaving a rich scientific heritage and influence on the world of economic science and politics.
