Julia was born on August 20, 1954 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She spent her childhood and youth in small towns in Germany and Canada, as her father, a geophysicist, often changed jobs. After graduating from high school, Julia entered the University of Göttingen, where she studied Romanesque philology and English literature. She also studied at the Goethe Institute of Literature and received a master's degree in comparative literature.

Julia began her literary career as a freelance writer and journalist. She wrote articles for various newspapers and magazines, and also worked as an editor. However, real success came to her after the publication of her first book, "Tablets of Sin" ("Das Kreuz des Südens") in 1998.

"God of trifles" tells about the meeting of man with God and about the search for meaning in the world, and the main idea of the book - finding beauty in the trifles of life, caused deep reflections among readers.
