Information about Kalidas' early life remains unclear and partially legendary, and therefore many details of his biography remain controversial. It is known that he was born in the ancient Indian city of Ujjaini in a family of modest middle classes. It is important to note that the word "Kalidasa" means "servant of the goddess Kali," and according to tradition, after some amazing events and meetings, he received this name.
