Kim was born on June 11, 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri. His childhood was spent in a deprived area, where he witnessed violence and absurd court decisions that had a huge impact on his future career. Kim was young and ambitious, and he dreamed of changing a system he thought was at times unfair.
In 1994, Kim was innocently charged with murder, which he did not commit. His arrest and prosecution were turning points in his life. Despite the fact that he was acquitted, this event pushed him to a career in the field of legal protection of human rights. He enrolled in law school and began fighting for justice for the other innocently accused.
Kim Gardner gained fame for his work in the field of human rights protection and the fight against preventing errors in the judicial system. He founded a nonprofit called the Innovation Center for the Defense of Human Rights ("Innocence Project"), which researches wrong sentences and helps convicts who were innocent.
In 2016, Kim was elected to the St. Louis City Attorney position, making him one of the youngest and most powerful prosecutors in the country. In this position, he actively transformed the judicial system, eliminated injustices and carried out reforms aimed at supporting justice and human rights.
