Leslie Marmon Silco - Biography

Silco was born on March 5, 1948, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of a pueblo lagoon and a turkey lagoon. Her background and roots influenced her future writing and activist work. She spent her childhood in close connection with the culture of her people.

Leslie Marmon attended the University of New Mexico, where she studied English literature and writing. Her teachers and professors inspired her to create her own works, and she began writing poetry and short stories that reflected her cultural heritage and experience.
