Luis Buñuel - Biography

Bunuel is a name that will forever remain in the golden collection of great filmmakers. His life and work are intertwined with great experiments, surreal ideas and a unique contribution to world cinema. Let's dive into an amazing biography of this creative genius and explore its impact on film history.

Luis was born on February 22, 1900 in Calande, Aragon, Spain. His family was middle class, and his childhood was spent in an atmosphere of Catholic traditions and values. This experience greatly influenced his future art and worldview.

In the 1920s he moved to Madrid, where he began his film career and became part of the intellectual art community. In Madrid, he also met his long-term friend and colleague - surrealist Salvador Dali.

Luis's first step in cinema was his participation in the creation of the film "Golden Mine" (La Edad de Oro) in 1930, which was strongly inspired by the surreal movement and ideas. This film caused many scandals and was banned in many countries, which only increased interest in the work.

The most famous and productive period of his career was his move to France. Here, together with Salvador Dali, he created one of the most famous and influential films in the history of cinema - Un Chien Andalou in 1929. The film was overflowing with surreal imagery and symbolism, and it became a manifesto of surrealism in cinema.

The collaboration with Dali continued with another cult film - "The Golden Priestess" (L'Âge d'or) in 1930. These films elevated the name to the highest heights and established it as a master of surrealism.
