The first works of Lyudmila Ulitskaya began to appear in periodicals in the 1960s. She wrote poetry, short stories and plays, but her real breakthrough was the novel "Sisters" (1983). "Sisters" quickly won critical acclaim and was Lyudmila Ulitskaya's first step towards world fame.
