Mary Oliver - Biography
Jane Oliver was born on September 10, 1935 in Long Island, New York. Her childhood was full of bright memories of nature, the ocean and the woods that surrounded her home. This connection with nature from an early age greatly influenced her future creativity.In 1953, Mary entered Vassar College, where she began her education in English literature. At this institution, she also began to write poetry and quickly showed her poetic talent. Her teachers and professors praised her work and foresaw a great future for her.
