This prominent English poet, philosopher and activist of the Romantic era left an unforgettable mark on world literature and philosophy. Percy Bysshe was born on 4 August 1792 in Philadelphia, United States, but spent most of his life in Britain. His parents were prominent political activists, and he was raised in an atmosphere of revolutionary ideas and free thought. Already in early childhood, he showed an interest in literature and philosophy.

Shelley was educated at Harrow and then at Oxford, where his philosophical ideas began to take shape. He was a passionate reader and studied thinkers such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau and William Godwin.

Percy became one of the leading poets of the Romantic era. His poetry covered a wide range of topics, including nature, love, freedom and religion. He was known for his poems, filled with deep philosophy and reflections on the essence of the human soul.

His most famous work, the poem "Kingdom of Hell" (Queen Mab), was published in 1813 and caused a wide resonance with his revolutionary ideas and criticism of religion and monarchy. This poem became a symbol of his revolutionary beliefs and pursuit of social justice.

Percy was known not only for his poetry, but also for his difficult love life. In the early 1810s, he met Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, daughter of the famous philosopher William Godwin and writer Mary Wollstonecraft. Their love was scandalous, having already been married to Harriet Westbrook, but their passion was irresistible.
