Philippa was born on January 9, 1954 in Knighton, Berkshire, UK. Her childhood was spent in a middle-class family and she was the oldest child. Already at an early age, she became interested in history and reading, and she dreamed of becoming a writer.

After leaving school, Philip entered the University of Sussex, where she studied literature and history. She also received a master's degree in history from the University of Edinburgh. Education and historical research became an important foundation for her future career as a historical writer.

Philippa Gregory's first publication was the novel "The Land of White Women" ("Wideacre"), released in 1987. This novel was the first step towards its recognition in the literary world, and it was the beginning of a trilogy including "Land of White Women," "Land of Gifts" ("The Favored Child") and "Land of the Dead" ("Meridon").

However, real success came to Philippe with the publication of the novel "The Other Boleyn Girl" in 2001.
