Rabindranath was born on 7 May 1861 in Kolkata, to a Bengali family that had deep roots in Indian culture and literature. His father, Debendronath Tagore, was a respected writer and philosopher, and his mother, Sharda Devi, was an inspiration and support for the young Rabindranath.

Rabindranath received his primary education in a private school and later enrolled in the University of Calcutta. He also studied in England at the University of London. His travels and education opened up new horizons for him and inspired literary and philosophical creativity.

Rabindranath Tagore was a multi-faceted talent, and his literary work spanned various genres, including poetry, prose, drama and essays. His poems were written in Bengali and later translated into many world languages. His poetry collection "Gitanjali" (or "Song of Songs") became a world bestseller and won him the Nobel Prize.

Rabindranath was not only a great poet, but also a philosopher whose ideas about peace, nature, human existence and spirituality had a profound influence on many.
