Richard Wright - Biography

Wright is a name that embodies the voices of African-American literature and the struggle for equality and justice. This distinguished American writer left an unforgettable mark on the history of literature, creating works that reflected the life and contradictions of the North South during a period of racial conflict and social change. Richard Nathanel was born on September 4, 1908 in Natchez, Mississippi. His childhood was spent under severe racial discrimination, which greatly influenced his views and positions in the future. Wright's family moved from city to city in search of work, and Richard grew up in poverty, but his desire for knowledge and literary endeavors showed up at an early age.

Richard began his literary career by publishing short stories and essays in local newspapers and magazines. His first book, Uncle Tom: An Autobiography of a Negroe Rebel, was published in 1940 and marked his first major literary achievement.

However, the real breakthrough in Richard Wright's career was the novel "The Son of Black," which was published in 1940. This novel tells the story of Biggie Thomas, a young black man facing a system of racial discrimination and poverty in Chicago. The work became a bestseller and attracted tremendous attention both in the United States and abroad. It has become a symbol of the civil rights and justice movement, and is still considered one of the most important works of American literature.

Other iconic works by Richard Wright were Black Boy and The Outsider. These books continued his reflections on racism, social injustice and his own life.
