Ridley was born on 30 November 1937 in South Shildon, England. His parents, Elizabeth and Colin Scott, were the owners of a food store. His parents had supported his interest in art and film since childhood.

After leaving school, Ridley attended West Hartlepool College of Art, where he began his arts studies. He then attended Royal College of Art in London, where his film career began to take shape.

At first, Ridley worked in advertising, creating commercials and posters. His professional skills and creative genius quickly gained attention in the industry. He founded his own agency, RSA Films, and began making creative and impressive commercials. This was the first step towards his future fame in the world of film directing.

In 1977, Ridley Scott directed his first feature film, "Palladium." This sci-fi horror was the beginning of his great film career and attracted the attention of critics and viewers with its scary and gloomy plot.
