Robert Howard - Biography

Erwin Howard was born on January 22, 1906 in Pixberg, Texas, USA. He grew up in the small town of Cross Plains, Texas, the son of average villagers. His childhood was spent in difficult conditions, and he suffered from poverty and social problems, which affected his worldview and late work.

Since childhood, Robert has shown an interest in reading and writing. He attended local schools and was active in reading books, especially adventure and historical novels. These early interests inspired his own short stories and poems.

Although he began to write as a child, his real writing career began in the 1920s, when he began to publish his stories in magazines. He was particularly known for his tales of adventure and exotic places such as Africa and Asia.

The most famous and popular thanks to his character Conan the Barbarian. The first story about Conan was published in 1932, and this character became his most famous and popular creation. Conan is a barbarian from a fictional land whose stories take place in a world of magic, adventure and battle. The character of Conan Varvara became a symbol of the sword and magic genre and the personification of power and the will to live in difficult conditions.

Although Howard was a successful writer, his personal life was far from cloudless. He suffered from depression and social isolation, and his relationships with women were complex and often ended unsuccessfully. Severe depression and personal problems caused his late suicide. On June 11, 1936, at the age of only 30, Robert Howard committed suicide.

Although Robert Howard's life was short and tragic, his literary legacy had a huge impact on the fantasy and adventure genre. The character of Conan Varvara became a cult and inspired many writers, artists, directors and game developers. His work continues to be popular and influences contemporary art and literature.
