Robert Service - Biography

Robert William Service is a name associated with adventures, poems and far corners of the world. He was a traveler whose poet and history of creativity still fascinates and inspires people around the world.

Robert was born on 16 January 1874 in London, England, the eldest of ten children. His family moved to Scotland, where young Robert spent most of his childhood. Impressions of the nature and customs of this country left a deep mark on his future work.

Service received a classical education and studied at the University of Glasgow. His real passion, however, was literature and the desire to travel. Even in his youth, he began to dream of distant lands and adventures.

Service left Scotland in the early 20th century for Canada, where he began his travels and adventures. He worked in various cities and provinces in Canada, including the Yukon, where he participated in the gold rush.

During his many travels, Service was inspired by the nature surrounding him and the lives of ordinary people. His poems became a reflection of his observations and experiences. He wrote about life in the wild west, about the gold rush, about adventure and living in extreme conditions.
