Rudyard Kipling - Biography

Kipling (Rudyard Kipling) is a name associated with jungle adventures, wise tales and vivid images of childhood. This prominent British writer and poet became one of the most recognisable and influential literary voices of his time. Let's dive into this talented author's fascinating biography and learn about his life, work and legacy.

Rudyard was born on 30 December 1865 in Bombay, British India (present-day Mumbai, India). His parents, John and Alice Kipling, were British citizens who worked in India. Rudyard's childhood passed among vivid impressions and local customs, which had a significant impact on his future work.

He later went to England, where he was educated at Wells, and later at a model school called The United Services College in Westwood. Here he began writing his first poems and short stories, demonstrating literary talent from a young age.

After leaving school, Rudyard went to the world, traveling to India, the USA and Europe. His travels and experience allowed him to gain extensive knowledge of various cultures and worldviews, which was subsequently reflected in his works.

Kipling began his career in journalism, working for various newspapers and magazines, including the "London Morning Standard." His articles and reporting were popular and earned him a reputation as an accomplished journalist.

The highest point of Rudyard Kipling's work was his children's works, including The Jungle Book, published in 1894, and Kim, published in 1901. The Jungle Book has become a classic of children's literature and tells about the adventures of Mowgli, a wolf pupil, in the jungle of India. "Kim" is an adventure novel about a young orphan who travels across India and becomes a spy.
