Samuel Johnson - Biography
Johnson is a name that embodies the greatness of 18th-century English literature and intellectual culture. This eminent English writer, lexicographer, literary critic and scholar became one of the most important and influential figures of his time. His family was not wealthy, and he grew up under disadvantage. After leaving school, he attended Pembroke College, Oxford, but family financial difficulties forced him to drop out. He returned to Litchfield and began working as a teacher and journalist.

In 1755, Samuel Johnson completed his most famous project - the creation of the first complete English dictionary, known as the A Dictionary of the English Language. Johnson's dictionary had a huge influence on the development of the English language and became a model of lexicography.
In addition to the dictionary, Samuel was also known for his literary works. His essays, including The Rambler and The Idler, became important texts of literary criticism and philosophy. He also wrote biographies of great English writers, including Shakespeare and Milton.
