Samuel Taylor Coleridge is a name that remains a great figure in the history of English literature and philosophy. Samuel Taylor was born on October 21, 1772 in Ottondale, Devon, England. His family was poor but educated, and the young showed outstanding ability in the study of literature and languages. After graduation, he entered the University of Cambridge, where he studied classical literature and philosophy. During this time, he began to write poetry and participate in literary discussions.
