Sigmund Freud - Biography
Freud is the name that stands at the head of psychoanalytic theory and practice. His ideas and methods of studying the human psyche became the foundation of modern psychology and had a huge impact on world science and culture. Let's delve into Freud's biography and consider his extraordinary achievements.Sigmund was born on 6 May 1856 in Freiberg, Moravia (now Czech Republic). His family life and early years were marked by difficult economic conditions and numerous siblings. grew up in a family of Jewish traders and moved to Vienna, Austria, at the age of fourteen.
After graduating from high school, he entered the Medical Faculty of the University of Vienna, where he studied medicine and began his path to psychology and neurology. He showed great interest in the work of Jean-Martin Charcot and the research of the nervous system.
Sigmund developed psychoanalytic theory, which became his main scientific contribution. He proposed a new way of understanding the human psyche and behavior, based on the study of unconscious processes and children. His key concepts were:
1. Eid, Ego, and Superego: Freud proposed a model of personality structure that includes unconscious elements (Eid), conscious Self (Ego), and moral consciousness (Superego).
2. Sexuality and fixation: He developed a theory of development, arguing that sexual instincts play an important role in personality formation, and that psychological problems can arise when fixation occurs at different stages of sexual development.
