Saint was born on 13 November 354 in Tagasta, Province of Africa (present-day Algeria). His childhood and youth were marked by a exploratory phase in which he sought spiritual satisfaction and truth. In the beginning, he was an influential member of the Manichaean religious sect, but soon abandoned it.

The next stage in the spiritual journey was his conversion to Christianity under the influence of Saint Ambrose, Bishop of Milan. The conversion took place in 386, and this was an important moment in his life. He received baptism and began to actively study Christian theology.

Saint became one of the most influential Christian theologians and philosophers in history. His works cover a wide range of topics, including theology, morality, free will, sin, and civil society.
