Dreiser is one of the most significant exceptions in American literature of the early 20th century. His novels and short stories, full of social criticism and deep analysis of the human soul, left an indelible mark on world literature. Let's take a look at Dreiser's biography, from his early years to his influence on literature and society.

Theodore was born on August 27, 1871, in Terre Haute, Indiana, United States, to German immigrant parents. His childhood was spent in poverty, and he faced the difficulties of life early on. These early impressions left a deep mark on his work and views on social justice.

Dreiser began his literary career as a journalist, working in newspapers and magazines. His writing talent quickly emerged and he became known for his reporting and writing on social issues and working class life. His experience in journalism influenced his future creativity.
