Valentin Grigorievich Shmelev - Biography

Shmelev actively participated in public life and historical events of his time. He was a committed Orthodox Christian and criticized the anti-religious campaigns of the Soviet government. This led to his arrest and exile in 1937.
During World War II, he served in front-line newspapers and continued his creative activities, inspiring soldiers with his works about the Motherland and the courage of Soviet soldiers.
